The Envy Corps(e)

over at rainydawg radio, we are required to play a certain number of tracks off our top 50 records list, which of course is very smart and also allows for me to listen to more bands i usually wouldn't be drawn to in an endless sea of band names. one of the bands that has grabbed my attention for repeated plays is The Envy Corps, a group out of Des Moines, Iowa that plays what i would describe as heavily influenced by Coldplay but with a more intimate midwest American approach.

anyways, i really enjoy it, i think they're better than Coldplay. i see these songs being queued in many playlists and mixes to come. here are two tracks made available on their website from their just released debut "I Will Write You Love Letters If You Tell Me To".

The Envy Corps // Rhinemaidens (mp3)
The Envy Corps // Sylvia [The Beekeeper] (mp3)

i really dig both songs, Rhinemaidens is little more Coldplay-heavy and Sylvia is little more straight-foward indie pop, but both very enjoyable listens.

and for those that were possibly out of the loop about Ted Leo and the Pharmacists lately, on their website, they have made available live demo recordings for their new album, on which, details are limited. check them out here, they definitely fulfill any Ted Leo fans' need for that signature sound and energy.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists // Some Beginner's Mind (mp3)
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists // Army Bound (mp3)
